Deputies fired 120 shots at SUV
Sheriff's deputies fired about 120 shots at a vehicle to end a car chase in Compton, Los Angeles according to sources quoted in a CNN article at http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/05/10/compton.shooting/

The unarmed man in the SUV was wounded, but will survive.

120 shots? Isn't that rather dangerous to bystanders and nearby houses and residences?

The standard operating procedure is for this to be investigated by the police department and then dismissed as justified. However, as 120 bullets were fired, the justification for the gunfire is a stretch even given the national success at defenses of this type (See the Diallo story given by this site and other internet sites.)
Suspected Purse Snatch Run Over by Police Truck
A police truck brutally ran over a fleeing suspect in a purse snatching. The truck ran over the legs of the victim and barely missed running over the man's head.

See the story at http://www.wltx.com/fyi/fyi.aspx?storyid=27084
The following photographs from that link could be copyrighted material.
At what appeared to be a velocity of 10 mph, the police truck overtook the man from behind.
...and ran over the calf of his leg.
The police truck proceeds at ten miles an hour without slowing down and misses the man's head by about a foot.

Was this attempted murder?

Historically, it is likely that this use of force will be found appropriate and the officer will get off lightly without a trial..

Two former NYPD detectives arrested in Mafia killings
Two police detectives led double lives as Mafia hitmen, kidnapping and killing rival gangsters and giving confidential information to the mob for more than a decade, federal prosecutors charged Thursday.

NY Daily News
Boston Police Kill Spectator with Pepper Spray filled Paint Ball
From CBSNEWS.com:
Victoria Snelgrove, a journalism major at Emerson College in Boston, was shot in the eye by a projectile fired by an officer on crowd-control duty.

The projectile that struck her in the eye is similar to a paint ball that is loaded with pepper spray instead of paint. It was fired, by the police, from a paint gun or a similar weapon.
Suffering and dying from being struck in the eye by a paintball full of pepper spray is, perhaps, one of the worlds most painful ways to die. There should be no rest until the people that authorized this use of force, from the top of the police force to the officer that fired the weapon, are brought to justice. With the number of people that are unemployed today, there is no need for Boston to keep the responsible people employed or even give them any benefits.

Firstly, when people engage in mock combat with paint guns, they are required to wear face protectors. Secondly, pepper spray is so caustic that it has been known to cause cardiac arrest and lethal bronchial spasm when used the most usual way.

This site has, for several years, taken a stand against the brutal use of pepper spray by the police. Having been sprayed with pepper spray myself, I can think of no conceivable use for the substance. It takes a minute to work and then requires medical attention, or, at least, a good shower by the recipient. Pepper spray should NEVER be used without an antidote or water spray present at the site.

This site believes that the manufacturer of this device should be sued and the money used to fund the victims of police brutality. I would suggest naming the police brutality fund the Victoria Snelgrove fund. I would be happy to convey any pledges to the parents as well as any proposals for this fund.

This fund should fund and advertise a database of police brutality that is accessible to the internet. The names of the victims can be made private, at least until any legal process has cleared. It is not sufficient just to get voluntary complaints, a staff member needs to actively seek victims of police brutality. Every person arrested or charged by the police is a potential victim of police brutality. It is not sufficient merely to have the site on the internet, the police should be required to give each person arrested a card with the internet address of the site and a contact phone number.

Dear Senator/Representative,

The letter makes two requests. The letter firstly requests that legislation be written to bring justice to the police and government officials that commit wrongdoing.  The second, and perhaps most important request, is to for the government to actively interview ALL potential victims of police brutality. Government should not wait until another person dies to take action.

I am concerned about the 400 innocent people shot and killed by the police each year in the USA. The police superficially investigate themselves, distort the story and evidence and concoct a story that the police had to shoot the victim multiple times in lethal areas in order to subdue him. The courts usually don't even try the police. When government does try a policeman, as in the famous Diallo shooting, the police killers get off. The police plausibly consider their fraternal brotherhood of police above the law. Both the police departments and government discriminate in favor of government and the police each year. There is currently NO power that can discipline government or the police.

If even the most flagrant violations of justice go unpunished, then what about the lesser cases? In the lesser cases the policemen are actually rewarded for their evil. They falsify a case of assault against the police and collect damages for their evil!

Government is highly immoral, incompetent, negligent and out of control. The bare minimum of what is needed is for a government agency to be funded and staffed by people that are NOT connected to family members of the police, or government officials. These people should be free to anonymously interrogate people that have been arrested for any evidence of police brutality or police misconduct or other government negligence or misconduct. This data should be released to the public with the names of the victims remaining confidential. Preferably, the funds to hire independent council to vigorously prosecute these the government evil should be provided.

Sincerely yours,

Your name
